What are the design cues that make you even like otherwise bland or ugly car designs?

One thing that does it for me is sloped taillights. I just like them for some reason.

I don't even like the looks of A60 Celica Coupe in general but I just have to like it at some level because of those taillights.

Simplicity. Nothing conveys an honest vehicle with a conservative design.

I'll admit, even though the MX-6 is sleek, the design is still very simple.

I want to graft that suburban front end on to a 73-87 Chevrolet C10. Looks really good, shame it never actually was on the pickups.

These aren't bland or ugly, but they're styling cues that I like.

Coke bottle styling, quad rounds

Stacked headlights, tunnel-back roofline.

Chrome fender blades, notchbacks with rear overhang, Pillarless hardtops

Wrap around rear windows, subtle fins

This is a big part of why I like older Peugeots so much. One or two of their newer designs work, too:

There's a few, but pop-up headlights are a particular favourite. Oddly, while I tend to prefer rounded fixed headlights, I've always preferred squared-off pop-ups.

That 508 looks like an S60 with a smaller grille. Looks pretty good.
